Thread: What causes the parking brake light to flash?

I have a 1988 Chevy C1500. The parking brake light flashes 4 or 5 times the goes solid for half a second to a second. Then goes back to the flashing stage. This cycle is repeated for as long as the vehicle is running. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.
I dont think its the wireing as it just started around the July 4th weekend.

could be the wiring?

It's probably a worn or dirty sensor on the brake assembly or a worn brake assembly allowing the pedal to intermittently sag and touch the sensor.
