How do I trace an audio cable in my car?

I have a 2002 Buick Century that I just bought. It had an aftermarket stereo installed, but we changed it out for a better model because the faceplate was gone. When I installed the new stereo, there was a Pre-amp output with an Amplifier switch cable already running out from under the dash into the floor board. My question is, how do I find out where it is running to? I looked in the trunk and didn't find anything. I just got a sub and if i can use the wiring that's already there, it would make my life a lot easier. I assume that the pre-amp output was originally running to an amplifier that has since been removed, but on my particular stereo (a Sony CDX-GT410U) the output can be changed to a sub out.
I think this cable is running to nothing. I think it used to be connected to an amp that was removed when the previous owner sold the car. It may be going to a speaker, but I don't think so.

Run new wiring. Don't count on a previous install as being proper.

if its running to a speaker, try touching a small nine volt battery to the two wires, and you will here the speaker crackle.- the best device to use is a multimeter that reads volts and resistance(ohms).

well i would guess its under the front seat, in the trunk tucked behind a panel or tucked under the back seat. also theres always the possibility that they were cut off and pushed in somewhere. i know you have rca's and a turnon lead but what about a battery cable that would be run to the amp? is there a cable hooked upto or is near the battery. if not you will have to run one and you will have to pull the running boards and other parts off the car at that point youll probably find where the other wires were run. or you could just pop some panels off anyway just too see as long as you feel comfortable doing so. last i would reccomend just starting from scratch with all new cables if possible.
