Would a transgender woman be allowed in Opera if she was talented?

Gosh yes, by most modern directors. If she is talented, suits AND looks the role, and sounds appropriate for the role, there is no reason she shouldn't be cast.

Remember that virtually every role cast is decided by the suitability of the auditioner. It shouldn't matter if the individual is a woman or a transwoman, if she nails the part the best, she should get it.

Consider she passes well on a regular basis, her singing voice has a mezzo-soprano tessitura (going up to C6) and even though technically she'd be a countertenor, doesn't sound "boyish" like a lot of countertenors. Please include reasons for yes or no in your answer.

I don't think what you are is very important to many people today....we've come a long way....look at that tennis player back in the 50's - 60's, Christine Jorgenson he/she played tennis on a woman's team....a few eyebrows were raised but I think in the 21st century we've gotten beyond all that....what matters is the talent....I know that personally that's the way I feel, I don't care what your sexual orientation is, if you have talent I'm going to admire you for that talent....not for what you prefer in the bedroom....in fact that sounds almost silly today !!!!!
