Thread: What's an easy way to trace a picture with pencil or pen?

I'm not an artist at all. I can barely draw stick people. I need something that's a really simple way to trace a picture of myself that doesn't require a lot of drawing ability. I read somewhere something about using tracing paper and graphite coat? I don't understand that. I've also read about coloring the back of the picture with a lead pencil and then tracing it onto another paper. I tried this and it turned out horrible. The details were just weak. Please help. I'm not an artist, but I really want to make this for my mom.

Shine light through it. Put the photo down, lay your fresh paper over it - tape it to it so it doesn't move during the sketching process. Put a light under it and you can see it pretty good. What I do if I don't have a light box, is I tape the photo to a South facing window, then tape the fresh paper over it and draw. Good luck.
