Thread: What is considered the most powerful gemstone?

I'm am doing research for a novel I am writing. I don't have a lot of time to explain it, but I need a gemstone that is considered highly powerful. It is an important detail that drives the plot.

crystals are considered powerful, but i don't know if that is really a gemstone, and crystals are kind of cliche.
