What is the best research source for life on the mob?

I am doing reasearch about the Mafia and want to get things right. I am planning on writing a book/mystery next year where the hero is the son of the head of crime family but is estranged from his family due to the Mafia dealings. Not sure how acurate movies and shows are. Goodfellas maybe accurate to a point, the eveyone under the sun but me may watch the Sorpannos but I doubt on the accuracy. Any ideas folks? Already have Mafia for Dummies. Seriously it's a real book.

I'd recommend you read the book "Goodfellas" by Henry Hill. It's the book the film was based upon. Also "Donnie Brasco" by Joseph Pistone (also the basis for a film). Pistone was an undercover agent who spent years working with the mob. I think those are the two best, and most well-known inside sources of what life in the mob is like.
